TESTOMONIES
The right to human mobility is as fundamental as the right to live a life free of discrimination and to freely express one’s opinions. In order to achieve #FreedomForAll, we need to abolish immigration detention NOW! Join our movement by watching and sharing the stories of Ana, Sebastian, and Tatiana.
Let’s raise our voices and demand #FreedomForAll NOW!
TATIANA
After fleeing Guatemala, Tatiana and her daughters were immediately detained upon entering the United States. Shortly after, Tatiana was enrolled in an alternative-to-detention program, where she was constantly monitored by ICE and forced to wear an ankle monitor for three years. In order to guarantee #FreedomForAll we must abolish immigration detention, a system that — like far too many alternatives-to-detention programs — is focused on criminalizing people, invasive surveillance, and robbing their freedom and humanity, just because they exercised their human right to migrate. Join the movement now.
ANA
Ana migrated to the United States from Guatemala in 2013. In this video, she shares what she experienced while locked up in an immigration detention center in the U.S. To guarantee #FreedomForAll, we must end immigration detention and re-invest the billions spent on lock-ups to instead fund a universal legal representation program for people who migrate and those in any immigration proceedings. Join the movement.
SEBASTIAN
Sebastian Melendez spent more than 20 months in immigration detention simply for fleeing violence and poverty in his home country. In this video, Sebastian, a member of the Garífuna community from San Pedro Sula, Honduras, describes his experience. As Sebastian puts it, “In the end, we are all human beings. We are just here looking for an opportunity.” Join our campaign to end immigration detention.
